Is Crystal Springs lake human-made? What lives in the lake? Where does all of the water come from and where does it go?

Join Karl Lee, hydrologist and volunteer with the Crystal Springs Partnership, for a walk and talk around the garden, learning about the springs.

Karl will share about the springs, where all that water comes from (and is going), and why this little gem tucked away in Southeast Portland is an important contributor to the health of our local ecosystem, and beyond.

This will be an easy walk, with several stops along the way for questions, contemplation, and yes, hopefully even answers!

About The Crystal Springs Partnership

The Crystal Springs Partnership is a volunteer group that has been doing restoration, education, and advocacy for Crystal Springs Creek for the past 12 years. They partner with private landowners, public agencies, and local non-profits, particularly the Johnson Creek Watershed Council, for the benefit of all who inhabit the watershed.

About the Instructor

Karl Lee was a hydrologist with the US Geological Survey, providing data and interpretation regarding Oregon rivers. His work included focused study of the Johnson Creek basin, of which Crystal Springs Creek is an important contributor. After leaving that day job a decade ago, he continues to get his feet wet in rivers near and far.
