Contemporary Movement with Bree
$30 per person*, 90 minutes
Registration Required
A contemporary movement class promoting integration of the body and mind within the garden environment, for bodies who want to expand their relationship with momentum, weight, and strength while being surrounded by the beauty of the gardens.
For those new to class with Bree, all levels of dance experience, strength, flexibility, and mobility are welcome. As this class will explore various standing, crawling, rolling, and inverted movements, Bree asks that dancers enter the space with the confidence that they can make honest, safe judgements for their body based on their own knowledge of their facility and skill level.
For those who have trained with Bree before in studio spaces; this class will feel familiar as it will be a hybrid of the material we explore in class but adapted to and inspired by the outdoor location.
With the understanding that every piece of our body, each joint, each nerve, each thought work together as an integrated whole, this class will appreciate how subtle attunements of the body and the imaginarium can inform the grandest of gestures, making even intense physicality sustainable and playful. I am excited to see how our movement can be informed by the vastness of the garden setting with direct and immediate physical connection with the earth beneath us.

Instructor Bio:
Bryaunna (Bree) Kostelnik is a professional contemporary dancer and instructor
An Oregon native, Bree began studying dance at the age of 8 and has spent the past 10 years working as a creative director, mentor, and teacher.
Having been held by the natural beauty and power of the Pacific Northwest throughout their childhood, their movement and teachings channel the boundless freedom, innate strength, and grounding breath their young self found amongst the roots of Redwoods, waves along the Oregon Coast, and towering peaks of the Siskiyous.
Currently, Kostelnik continues their professional work with OPENSPACE as company artist for their 2023-2024 season. They are deeply grateful for the collaborative efforts that went into making these workshops possible.
